The Academy was awarded national Training Academy Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for the first time on November 5, 2016. CALEA accreditation serves to ensure accountability through a formal process of direction and supervision, enhance the delivery of training services to South Carolina law enforcement, ensure compliance with policies and procedures by providing proof of fulfillment, maintain the foundation and mission of the Academy, and confirm commitment to operate with excellence. The Academy is now part of CALEA’s new four-year process and will be electronically reviewed each year until the onsite assessment in 2020.
